Spotlight Series: Sarah Campbell

I first met Sarah Campbell in 6th grade, and since then we have become close friends. She is such a thoughtful, creative person who inspires me with her talent for all things crafty and her love for Lilly Pulitzer! We’re always discovering new things we have in common, and golfing is one of them. Today Sarah Campbell is sharing about her experience with golfing and how she continues to improve. 🙂

To begin, what drew you to golf?

I’ve been lucky to grow up in a family of golfers, and a few summers ago, I felt the urge to take up the sport too! I’m so glad I listened to that inner voice and made the decision to play golf, as it has enriched my life so much in the last year and a half to two years I’ve been playing.

How have you developed your skills?

I’ve practiced consistently over the time I’ve been playing, and I’ve taken lessons from a few different pros. I’ve also tried to compete in tournaments as much as possible.

What advice would you give to fellow lady golfers?

It’s definitely hard to be a lady golfer in a sport that’s mostly men, but stick with it, work hard, and find a group of fellow lady golfers you can play with. There may be few of us, but when we bond over a common interest, we create valuable relationships that make playing the game fun. As a junior, this girl golf group has been my high school team.

What is your favorite part of golf?

The feeling when I hit a really good, solid shot, and when I achieve goals, such as shooting a personal best score. Really, just seeing the hard work pay off in good results.

What is the best memory you have of golf?

Breaking 90 for the first time at state by making a 6 footer on the last hole, which helped my team get runner up in state.

What club do you reach for the most?

Hmm…probably my Callaway sand wedge. I tend to miss greens, so I pull it out for chips, pitches, and bunker shots quite regularly.

Tips for looking stylish on the golf course?

Finding cute, feminine, and stylish clothes for girl golfers is so hard, so I’m happy to share my tips! My favorite skirt is the Lululemon pace rival skirt. It’s expensive, but tried and true and fits amazing! It comes in two different lengths, so it’s perfect for any lady. Adidas and Nike have some cute pieces, and Lilly Pulitzer golf pieces add a fun pop of color. Also, don’t feel like you have to be limited to golf specific pieces! I often find tennis skirts to be a better, more youthful look for myself, and I’ll wear non-collared yet golf appropriate shirts. To find affordable golf clothing, I recommend looking on Dicks Sporting Goods. I have heard that you can find some great affordable golf skirts on Amazon as well, though I have not shopped there.

What are you looking forward to this summer?

I’m looking forward to spending time with family and friends,  morning golf practice sessions, traveling, and doing creative projects such as baking, painting, and watercoloring!

Lastly, Sarah Campbell and I both adore browsing fashion blogs, and these two ladies are some of our favorite creators; would you rather meet Kate Padgitt Bowman (LonestarSouthern.com) or Caroline Bramlett (LCBstyle.com)?

Ooh, tough one! I’d have to say Kate. Her style is on-point, but what I truly love about her is her personality and willingness to share her faith.
