Spotlight Series: Reese
I’m so excited to introduce a new part of the blog, spotlight series! This category will zoom in on friends who are role models to me and bring unique stories that I hope will inspire you!
The first spotlight is on Reese Hudson, a teen musician who recently released her second original song, Wish Me a Goodnight, on Spotify. We’ve grown up at church together and she has such a heart for the Lord, not to mention the sweetest personality! So, without further ado, here’s a brief Q&A with Reese:
Tell us a little bit about yourself, hobbies, interests…
I enjoy playing piano, ukulele, writing music, skateboarding, basketball, and hanging out with friends and family.
Describe yourself in 3 words.
Enthusiastic, outgoing, and caring
What drew you to music?
I’ve been surrounded by music all my life. My dad was in a band when I was younger, I’ve been doing classical training since I was seven, and at church I heard tons of music in services and in youth group when I would go with my dad when I was little.
Tell us about the inspiration behind your first song.
Guide me is about being lost in life and finding hope in Christ!
What was the best part about launching your song on
Spotify?
My music was listened to by friends and new people and hopefully they were encouraging.
You are such a role model to me and other girls, what advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Keep pursuing your music and dreams because giving up is just accepting failure. Take advantage of opportunities and don’t be scared because God is there for you every step of the way! Show how you feel in your music, don’t settle for what everyone else is doing, and make it your creation that can spark joy into others.
What is your favourite music artist or genre?
I love rock! Soft rock, modern rock, and classic rock. I also enjoy pop and some Motown.
You have such a fun sense of style, what is your number one piece of style advice you’ve received?
Well my mom has a great sense of style and I’ve taken a lot of advice from her. I also love thrifting clothes so I like to mix and match and I try to give off a skater/ beach girl vibe. In music I have a very pop style and my first song was a kind of ballad while the second is like a fun, upbeat tune!
How have you seen the Lord working through your gift for music?
I’ve had a few people tell me that it was an encouragement to them
Favourite bible verse/passage?
I love Psalm 23 and Romans 8:28.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28”
*Thank you to Reese for sharing a bit of her story with us. 🙂
